Foundation Stallion

DF ChalkTalk

Chalk is a 2002 Drum Horse.  He was purchased by Mariah Farms from Drum and Feather Farm in Danville, IN in 2004.  His sire is the imported Gypsy stallion "Clononeen Guinness" owned by Magnolia Draft Horse Ranch in Burnett, TX.  His dam is the black and white sabino Clydesdale mare, Forwood's Alice. Ali resides at White Stone Ranch in Washington State.

Chalk is registered with both the
American Drum Horse Association
Gypsy Cob and Drum Horse Association

He is a black and white tobiano with one blue eye.  He stands an honest 16.3.  Chalk has wonderful conformation, movement and disposition...and lets not forget HAIR!  He has loads of thick silky feather and his mane just seems to keep on growing!

Chalk continues to exceed our expectations.  He is a lovely mover with incredible presence and style.  Not to mention an exceptional temperament.  After just one month under saddle, he was ridden in the American Heart Associations' annual trail ride in Myrtle Beach, SC.  There were over 1200 horses on this ride...on the beach!  In spite of the other horses, ocean, wagons, mules, loud music and general chaos associated with a ride of that size, Chalk couldn't have been more of a gentleman.  His wonderful manner and striking looks made us very sought after over the weekend for questions and photos.  He made a wonderful showing for Drum Horses!

Chalk has now logged loads of "trail miles", exhibited at Equine Affaire, been in numerous parades, breed exhibitions and even participated in the Parade of Breeds at Kentucky Horse Park, where he was the first Drum Horse EVER in the park!
He rides English, Western and Sidesaddle, as well as drives.  He started his show career at the Feathered Horse Classic in Perry, GA where he won "Grand Champion Versatility"!  He participates in Hunter Pace's and Game Days for fun.  He even works cows!  Chalk is our primary carriage horse for our wedding carriage service.  He's a busy boy and has been a star everywhere we have taken him.  You just can't help but be impressed with his unflappable disposition and gentleness.  He's the only stallion we have ever had that the children love to ride, OR that we would LET them ride.

Chalk is an exceptional boy that we are extremely proud of.  So far we have not found anything that he won't do and do willingly.  A better disposition you could not ask for.

Chalk has sired 12 foals...all but four were tobiano.  Of those four, only one did not posess excessive white.

UPDATE...Due to an injury, Chalk was gelded in October of 2008.  After returning to activity, he continues to impress us with his willingness and versatility.  He continues to be Tanya's mount (for pretty much everything!) and our primary wedding carriage horse.

In the future, his children will make their mark in the Drum Horse world.  He is sire to two geldings and multiple daughters as well as Mariah's Boon - his only Drum Horse Stallion, www.moonlitacre.com and Mariah's Cian (still owned by Mariah Farms)...his American Warmblood son.

Chalk is our heart and the foundation of our program.  He may no longer sire foals, but he'll be here forever and we hope his progeny will be an asset to the future of the breed.
